Mendoza - Argentina Breakfast. Day at your leisure.
We recommend our full day tour to Petropolis, Brazil’s Imperial city, located so near Rio de Janeiro. It´s a popular health and summer resort  founded in 1845 by German immigrants. It is named after Pedro II, the emperor of Brazil from 1831 to 1889,  who adopt it as his favorite summer residence. The population goes around 300,000 people. Petrópolis is one of Rio de Janeiro's premier mountain resorts. The lovely tree-lined streets, the palaces, mansions, and museums can be comfortably explored on foot. In addition to the royal family, the Baron of Mauá, the Baron of Rio Negro, and a number of industrialists, coffee moguls, and politicians built their summer residences here, turning Petrópolis into the capital of Brazil during the hot summer months. Even after the Brazil´s indepe in 1889, Petrópolis maintained its prestige. In 1904 the former Baron´s residence became the official summer residence for the president of the Republic.
