The itinerary is designed to follow the traditional way of visiting the Cuzco – Machu Picchu area, taking Cuzco City (11,217 ft.) as the starting point for taking day tours to the Urubamba Valley and excursion to Machu Picchu (8,400 ft.) one of the Seven Wonders of the World, with overnight stay near the ruins.

Tours Peru – Lima, Cusco and Machu Picchu

Day 1. Arrival in Lima
Upon arrival at the Jorge Chavez International Airport of Lima, our local host will meet you and provide you transfer to the selected hotel. Lima is the largest city and the capital of Peru; also it is the fifth largest city in Latin America with a population almost 9 million folks known as Limeans -Limeños. The city is in the center of Peru, located among valleys surrounded by rivers and a desert coast on the Pacific Ocean with the Port Callao. Peru is recognized for its fine cuisine and gourmet restaurants. The historian Inca Empire and their unique culture are shown in several important museums of Lima and other regions of the country. In the afternoon, we suggest visiting the Gold Museum. Ask to include this optional half day tour. Some of the cultures represented in this collection include the Chavin, Paracas, Nazca, Tiahuanaco and Inca. You can also ask for optional night city tour of Lima that may include: Typical restaurants savoring the exquisite Peruvian gastronomy, combined with dancing, folkloremusic, colorful shows and spectacular views.

Day 2. Lima / Cusco
Breakfast at your hotel. Tour of Colonial and Modern Lima and a visit to the Gold Museum. This half day tour visits both the colonial and modern sections of this “City of Kings” Colonial site; including the lovely Plaza de Armas with its cathedral and palace, and the exquisite Torre Tagle Palace, modern day seat of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In modern Lima, drive along the exclusive residential areas of Miraflores and San Isidro. Then visit Peru’s famous museum, which houses a priceless collection of pre-Colombian gold artifacts, as well as the private armory of Miguel Mujica Gallo. Transfer to Jorge Chavez International Lima Airport. Flight to Cusco, and transfer to your selected hotel. Cusco, the capital city of the Inca Empire, is located in the Peruvian Andes at 11,217 feet above sea level. Day for relaxing and acclimating to the high altitude.

Day 3. Cusco / Pisac / Ollantaytambo / Cusco
Breakfast at your hotel. Full Day Excursion to the Pisac Indian Market and the Ollantaytambo Fortress, (Operates on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays only). Morning departure for a drive through the fertile countryside to the colonial village of Pisac.During your visit to the bustling marketplace, you will have the opportunity to bargain with the locals for many different types of Peruvian handicrafts and jewelry. After lunch the tour continues to the village of Ollantaytambo, for a visit to its impressive Inca fortress. Later return to hotel.

Day 4. Cusco
Breakfast at your hotel. Tour to Cusco and its ruins.This afternoons’ tour of the oldest continuously inhabited city in the western hemisphere includes important landmarks of enchanting Cusco and also the nearby ruins of Kenko, Puca-pucara, Tambomachay, as well as the Sacsayhuaman fortress. Once in the center of the Inca civilization, modern Cusco is a delightful combination of Inca and Colonial architecture. During the tour, you will visit Cusco’s Cathedral, Santo Domingo Church and the delightful Plaza de Armas. Later return to hotel.

Day 5. Cusco / Machu Picchu
Breakfast at your hotel.Full day excursion to one of the Seven Wonders of the World “Machu Picchu” with overnight stay. Advance passport information is required for the train ride. Early wake up for a ride on the Vistadome Train (*see below) through the sacred valley of Urubamba to the “Lost City of the Incas”, Machu Picchu. Perched 8,200 feet above the valley, it was hidden by mountains and semi-tropical jungles for 400 years until discovered by Hiram Bingham of Yale University in 1911. Archaeologists believe that the Inca “Virgins of the Sun” took refuge from the Spanish Conquistadors here. Guided tour of the ruins upon arrival. Lunch included. Afternoon return to your hotel in Aguas Calientes.Overnight at the hotel located in Aguas Calientes City, nearby Machu Picchu Citadella.
*Ask for an up-grade to a luxury ride from Cusco to Lima on the famous Hiram Bingham Train, (the Orient Express of Peru).

Day 6. Cusco / Machu Picchu
Breakfast at your hotel.Morning at you leisure to enjoy one of the most incredible sights on Earth, the ruins of Machu Picchu. Take as much time as you need to study the mysterious ruins, hike Huayna Picchu, stroll to the Inca Bridge or walk toward the Inca Trail to find the legendary Sun Gate. Second day re-entry to Citadella Ruins, not included. Additional fees may apply. In the afternoon we will provide you with a shuttle bus to the train station for your return trip to Cusco on board of Vistadome, click here for the schedule information.Upon arrival transfer from rail station to hotel in Cusco for overnight stay.

Day 7. Cusco / Home
Breakfast at your hotel and check out at before noon. Transfer from hotel to the Cusco Airport for your flight to your home town or next destination via Lima.
